Rolliston Road Garden

The Rolliston Road garden has 29 4’x10’ garden plots.  Six of the plots are themed childrens plots, which are planted and cared for by the neighborhood children, and families participating in the garden.

All of the plots were built on top of the soil using a method known as lasagna gardening or sheet composting. Lasagna gardening is a no-dig, no-till organic gardening method that results in rich, fluffy soil with very little work from the gardener. The name “lasagna” refers to the method of building the garden, which involves adding layers of organic material that will cook down over time.

If you are interested in participating in this garden or any other future gardening endeavors, please add your name to our waiting list!

Larchmere Community Garden

The Larchmere Community Garden is getting ready for its second bountiful year!  We are a permaculture based community garden stressing sustainable gardening methods such as watering from rainbarrels, composting and cover cropping to feed the soil, and companion planting.  This year we hope to add some dwarf fruit trees and berry bushes.

We are also adding new lasagna beds this year and still have a few large, medium and (for the first time this year) small plots available.  If you would like to join us in the garden, or want more information, contact Janet Alter at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
